What an AZ ROC licence actually covers
And the four things it does not.
The Arizona Registrar of Contractors issues a licence to a qualifying party who has passed a trade exam, a business-management exam, and a background check, and who has posted a bond. On BookEhm the number is printed on the profile — ROC 327914, not a badge that says “verified” and nothing else.
An active licence means the Registrar has not suspended it. It means the bond is on file. It does not mean the last job was good. It does not mean the person who rings your doorbell is the qualifying party. It does not price the work, and it does not insure your house beyond the bond’s narrow purpose.
We re-check the number at renewal, which for most residential licences is every two years, and we take a profile down when the Registrar lists the licence as suspended, revoked, or expired. Between renewals, a licence can lapse. That gap is why the profile says when it was last checked, not merely that it was checked once.
If you want to look it up yourself, the Registrar’s public search takes the number on the card. We would rather you do that than trust a ribbon we drew.
